YOKOHAMA, Japan – Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Nissan Motorsports & Customizing Co., Ltd. (NMC) today announced their 2026 motorsports activities. From optimizing power management in the Formula E series to the precision machines of Super GT, Nissan and NMC continue to tap into motorsports to push technologies to the limits for customers, fans and those that compete.

2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship (Season 12)
Nissan races in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship to bring the excitement and fun of electric vehicles to fans and further gather insights from the track to the road. Season 12 marks Nissan’s eighth year in the series and the final year of the GEN3 Evo cars. After winning the Drivers’ World Championship last season, Oliver Rowland (driving the #1 racecar) aims to stay at the top, while Norman Nato (#23 racecar) looks to support the team and make a mark of his own. The team has already seen early success in season, with Rowland on the podium in both São Paulo and Mexico City.

SUPER GT GT500 class
Nissan/NMC will compete with three Nissan Z NISMO GT500 cars with three teams. Kondo Racing will run on Bridgestone tires from this season.
Daiki Sasaki serves as the reserve driver for the Nissan. Kazuyoshi Hoshino continues as Team Impul’s Team Principal; and Takeshi Nakajima becomes Team Principal of NISMO. As in 2025, Masataka Yanagida continues as Executive Advisor, while Ronnie Quintarelli serves as NISMO Ambassador and Advisor.

Customer racing programs (North America)
Nissan will continue to collaborate with the Forsberg Racing team on several key initiatives in North America.
- NISMO GT-Z Program: From its debut at SEMA, Forsberg Racing will campaign the NISMO GT-Z concept at several events and engagements such as GRIDLIFE. The concept car serves as a showcase for NISMO performance parts.
- Formula Drift: Competing in their 22nd consecutive year in FD for 2026, Forsberg Racing will continue with their Nissan Z in FD Pro and has added a 3rd Nissan Z to the FR team with 2 drivers now competing in the FD Pro Spec series.
- Off-Road Competition: Chris Forsberg will compete with his production-class winning D41 Frontier in major off-road events including the MINT 400, NORRA 500, and more.
Other programs
Nissan/NMC will provide technical support to customer teams racing Nissan vehicles and engines.
- Super GT GT300 class (GTA GT300 regulations)
The Fairlady Z (RZ34) developed by Gainer Co., Ltd. will participate in the Super GT GT300 class.

● Engine supply program
Nissan/NMC are jointly developing a new engine with Gibson Technology for the next-generation LMP2 (Le Mans Prototype 2) category, which will be introduced in the 2028 season.
Other activities
● Nissan Mechanic Challenge
Nissan and Nissan Automobile Technical College will carry on the Nissan Mechanic Challenge, a development program conducted through racing activities. Technical staff from Nissan dealerships and students will take part in the Super GT GT300 class and the Super Taikyu Series, working alongside professional race mechanics to enhance their technical and communication skills.
● NISMO Driving Academy
The NISMO Driving Academy (NDA), a driving program for owners of NISMO road cars, the Nissan GT‑R, Fairlady Z and Skyline (V37) will pause activities in 2026.
Special circuit driving events for Nissan vehicle owners are in the works. Dates and venues will be announced on the official website at a later time.
